Disability Insurance

To help you prepare for the unexpected, Linksys offers disability insurance plans to provide a financial safety net for you and your family. Disability insurance through New York Life (formerly Cigna) and/or state-mandated disability insurance replaces some of your wages if you have an illness or injury that prevents you from working for an extended period of time, including for pregnancy and childbirth.
For greater financial protection, you may choose to enroll in Buy-Up Short-Term Disability, Buy-Up Long-Term Disability or both. Income from a Buy-Up plan is generally not taxable, since you pay 100% of the costs with after-tax dollars.

Core Short-Term Disability (STD)

All eligible Linksys employees outside of California are automatically enrolled in the Core STD plan, which aligns with the California State Disability Insurance (SDI).

California Employees: Short-term disability is provided for employees working in the State of California through the Employment Development Department (EDD). You will see a deduction from your paycheck labeled “SDI/UC Tax.” If you have questions about California SDI, contact the EDD directly at www.edd.ca.gov/disability. The EDD will decide if you are eligible for benefits and at what amount.

New York and New Jersey Employees: Short-term disability coverage is provided for all employees working in the states of New York and New Jersey and covered under the New York Statutory Benefits Law and New Jersey Temporary Disability Insurance Law, respectively.

Buy-Up STD

A voluntary employee-paid short-term disability plan covers additional earnings if you become sick or disabled for more than seven days. If you do not elect this coverage when you first become eligible, you will need to complete Evidence of Insurability (EOI).

Core Long-Term Disability (LTD)

All eligible Linksys employees are automatically enrolled in the Core LTD plan. Linksys pays 100% of the cost for this coverage.

Buy-Up LTD

You may choose to purchase the LTD Buy-Up plan if your base annual earnings are more than $100,000. If you do not elect this coverage when you first become eligible, you will need to complete Evidence of Insurability (EOI).

55.00% of your weekly earnings to a $1,620 maximum until the end of the 25th week. Benefit begins after 7 days of disability.
Buy-up STD 66.67% of your weekly earnings to a $2,000 maximum for 26 weeks. Benefit begins after 7 days of disability.
Statutory New York STD 50% of your weekly earnings to a $170 maximum until the end of the 25th week. Benefit begins after 7 days of disability.
Core LTD 60% of your monthly earnings to a $5,000 maximum. Benefit begins after 180 days of disability and payments will last for as long as you are disabled or until you reach your Social Security Normal Retirement Age, whichever is sooner. Certain exclusions as well as pre-existing condition limitations may apply.
Buy-up LTD 60% of your monthly earnings to a $12,000 maximum. Benefit begins after 180 days of disability.
Your Linksys disability benefits will be coordinated with any wage continuation or other disability income received due to the same or related disabling condition, including available state disability benefits, Social Security disability benefits, or Workers’ Compensation. Please refer to your certificate of insurance for additional information regarding other income.
